Then scroll down to the 3rd page (skip P2 Introduction, which is the LAST thing you write).

Delete all of the questions you will NOT address (keep your selected question visible so your proofreader knows what you chose to answer).

Then start writing!

When you have finished, have a peer proofread it.

If you have time, you are encouraged to work ahead (try to finish by Friday!).

Please make sure that you:

<span style="font-family: "times"; font-size: 16px; white-space: pre-wrap;">Introduce & Define the Question

Answer the question(s) thoroughly

Since you probably do not have a lot of work experience, you'll have to be more creative and broad than what adults produce. Focus on what you CAN do, and being able to prove it in some way. Most jobs for teens are focused on giving skills you'll build from as you get older; time management, customer service, professional language, etc.

Please read through the first two links below BEFORE starting to work on your own.

Read THIS (It's about building your first resume).

Check out another sample here.

Then, choose a template from here (you'll have to scroll down a bit) that captures your spirit and personality (do not pick one that is too flowery - avoid glitter, emojis, and unicorns). If you do not like any of those, Google is your friend: search for "High School Student Resume Template" or derivations thereof.

Finally, start transferring material from your Resume-Building worksheet and WICOR Proof-of-Acquisition packet into your resume. Print one out for Thursday.
We watched a Public Service Announcement from AT&T. Usually, a PSA is the same length of a traditional commercial. Broadcast stations (TV & radio) are required to broadcast a certain # of PSAs for free each month. They are usually about being a smart consumer, being aware of services offered to those in need, and often about safety issues. The one we watched is MUCH LOOOOOOOONGER, like a short film. This is beause the director is also a film director. Powerful stuff...oh, and have some tissues ready to wipe away the tears:

You must also "bcc" (blind carbon copy = your teacher will NOT see my email) me, so I can read what you wrote. You MUST read through the wikihow article linked here (http://www.wikihow.com/Write-a-Formal-Email). Then, compose your own email. Mention what you have done so far this year, how things may be different, and how the person to whom you are writing helped you become a better student (and person) overall. Follow up with a question - more specific than "how are things going for you?" - ask if s/he still does something interesting you liked, what the current classes are like, or something else...but it must be specific. When you are done, send it! Then finish your Mandala essay, which must be done when you come in to class on Monday (you'll submit it via turnitin in class).Romohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09487906653582652568noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-611448961168393484.post-19557452562467347142016-09-23T08:15:00.001-05:002016-09-23T08:40:20.799-05:00Gradebook Portal CheckRead the directions FIRST! You will check the gradebook portal to record your current grade & number of missing assignments for this week's Report & Reflect.
You will need to get your grade & number of missing assignments (indicated with the RED shade & letter M for your score) for ALL 7 of your classes:

AVID 9

English

Math

Science

Social Studies (Geography)

Non-4-Core/AVID Course #1 (PE/Health, Language, Support, Tech, Arts, etc.)

Non-4-Core/AVID Course #2 (PE/Health, Language, Support, Tech, Arts, etc.)

You will need to have more than one tab open to switch back-and-forth between your portal record and the AVID Report & Reflect 1.4 Google From. To open a new tab, you need to use the right mouse button (right-click). On a Chromebook, you use two fingers to press down on the trackpad (while hovering the cursor over the link). On a Mac, I have no idea (sorry!).
If you do not know how to check the gradebook portal, you can go to the washburn web site - select Students - then Portal for Grades....or click THIS LINK (http://sisportal.mpls.k12.mn.us/http://sisportal.mpls.k12.mn.us/)
You also need to open another tab with the AVID Report & Reflect 1.4 Google Form with THIS LINK (https://goo.gl/forms/1Z99JtzXI1IYd4o92).
Complete the survey based on what your gradebook portal shows.
That's it!
Come back ready to begin Tutorials next week!
